Calhoun: \u00ab\u2026 a la primera oportunidad, tomar Cuba\u2026\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>En Abril de 1823, John Quincy Adams(sexto presidente de los Estados Unidos e hijo John Adamsel segundo presidente de EE. UU.) hubo de declarar:\u00a0 \u00ab\u2026 Hay leyes de gravitaci\u00f3n pol\u00edtica, como leyes de gravitaci\u00f3n f\u00edsica, y Cuba, separada de Espa\u00f1a, tiene que gravitar hacia la Uni\u00f3n, y la Uni\u00f3n, en virtud de la propia ley, no iba a dejar de admitirla en su propio seno. No hay territorio extranjero que pueda compararse para los Estados Unidos como la Isla de Cuba. Esas islas de Cuba y Puerto Rico, por su posici\u00f3n local, son ap\u00e9ndices del Continente Americano, y una de ellas, Cuba, casi a la vista de nuestras costas, ha venido a ser de trascendental importancia para los intereses pol\u00edticos y comerciales de nuestra Uni\u00f3n\u2026\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u2026porque hay leyes pol\u00edticas como ocurre con la de gravitaci\u00f3n f\u00edsica; que si una manzana separada de su \u00e1rbol original por la tempestad no puede elegir sino bajar a la tierra, Cuba, separada fuertemente de su propia conexi\u00f3n artificial con el despotismo, y carente de ayuda propia, puede gravitar solamente hacia la uni\u00f3n norteamericana, que por la misma ley de la naturaleza no puede echarla de su pecho\u2026\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>En Octubre 24 de 1868, Carlos Manuel de C\u00e9spedes(General en Jefe); Pedro Figueredo (Jefe de Estado Mayor); Bartolom\u00e9 Mas\u00f3(Intendente General de Ej\u00e9rcito y Hacienda); Juan Hall (Ayudante del General en Jefe del Ej\u00e9rcito libertador); M. Codina(Gobernador Militar); Rafael Torn\u00e9s Garcini (Secretario de la Intendencia); Francisco Maceo Osorio(General de Divisi\u00f3n); J. Milan\u00e9s(Gobernador Pol\u00edtico); y los Regidores: Ram\u00f3n C\u00e9spedes, Ignacio Casas, Jos\u00e9 Mas; le escriben al Secretario de Estado de los Estados Unidos de Am\u00e9rica:<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u2026Por eso al acordarnos que hay en Am\u00e9rica una naci\u00f3n grande y generosa, a la cual nos ligan important\u00edsimas relaciones de comercio y grandes simpat\u00edas por sus sabias instituciones republicanas que nos han de servir de normas para formar las nuestras, no hemos dudado un solo momento para dirigirnos a ella por conducto de su Ministro de Estado a fin de que nos preste sus auxilios y nos ayude con sus influencia para conquistar nuestra libertad, que no ser\u00e1 dudoso o extra\u00f1o que despu\u00e9s de habernos constituidos en naci\u00f3n independiente formemos m\u00e1s tarde o m\u00e1s temprano una parte integrante de tan poderosos Estados, porque los pueblos de Am\u00e9rica est\u00e1n llamados a formar una naci\u00f3n y a ser la admiraci\u00f3n y el asombro del mundo estero\u2026\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>En Febrero 18 de 1869,Carlos Manuel de C\u00e9spedes le dice al General Ulises S. Grant: \u00ab\u2026 pues es principio generalmente admitido que los E.U. han de ejercer una acci\u00f3n altamente civilizadora sobre las otras rep\u00fablicas del Nuevo Mundo\u2026\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>En Marzo 1ro de 1869, elGeneral Carlos M. C\u00e9spedes(Comandante en Jefe de las fuerzas republicanas de Cuba) se dirigen al Presidente de los Estados Unidos de Am\u00e9rica:\u00ab\u2026Porque los Estados Unidos es la naci\u00f3n civilizada m\u00e1s cercana a Cuba, cuyas instituciones encuentran un eco simp\u00e1tico en el coraz\u00f3n de todos los cubanos. Los intereses comerciales y financieros de ambos pueblos, siendo casi id\u00e9nticos y rec\u00edprocos en su naturaleza, Cuba ardientemente apela a su incuestionable derecho para ser reconocida\u2026\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>En Abril 6 de 1869, la Asamblea de Representantes del Centro integrada por: Salvador Cisneros y Betancourt; Miguel de Betancourt; Francisco S\u00e1nchez Betancourt; Ignacio Agramonte y Loynaz; y Antonio Zambrana le comunican al Presidente Grant:\u00ab\u2026pero Cuba quedar\u00e1 desolada, asesinados nuestros hijos y nuestras mujeres por el infame gobierno que combatimos, y cuando seg\u00fan el deseo bien manifiesto de nuestro pueblo, la estrella solitaria que hoy nos sirve de bandera, fuera a colocarse entre las que resplandecen en la de los E.U., ser\u00eda una estrella p\u00e1lida y sin valor\u201d<\/p>\n<p>En Abril 6 de 1869, la Asamblea de Representantes del Centro, compuesta por: Salvador Cisneros Betancourt; Francisco S\u00e1nchez Betancourt; Miguel de Betancourt; Ignacio Agramonte y Loynaz; y Antonio Zambrana; le expresan al presidente Grant:<\/p>\n<p>\u2026\u201cCuba desea despu\u00e9s de conseguir su libertad, figurar entre los Estados de la gran Rep\u00fablica; as\u00ed nos atrevemos a asegurarlo interpretando el sentimiento general. Puede Ud. Estar seguro que si los E.U. no se apresuran a proporcionarnos sus valiosos auxilios, una larga guerra mantenida con un enemigo que conociendo su impotencia tala y destruye los campos que ya no volver\u00e1 a poseer, ha de cubrir de ruinas nuestro hermoso pa\u00eds. A la gran Rep\u00fablica, como defensora de la libertad, como Naci\u00f3n a cuyos brazos nos lanzaremos terminada la guerra, y como protectora de los destinos de Am\u00e9rica, le corresponde en rigor, dar con su influjo un t\u00e9rmino inmediato a esta terrible contienda\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u2026 \u00ab pero Cuba quedar\u00e1 desolada, nuestros ni\u00f1os y mujeres asesinados por el infame gobierno que nosotros combatimos, y cuando seg\u00fan el deseo muy manifiesto de nuestro pueblo, la estrella solitaria que hoy nos sirve de bandera, deba posicionarse por s\u00ed misma entre las que brillan en la bandera del E.U, ser\u00eda una estrella\u00a0 mustia y\u00a0 sin valor\u201d<\/p>\n<p>En Junio 8 de 1869, Carlos M. de C\u00e9spedes ordena al Ciudadano Francisco J. Cisneros: \u00ab\u2026 Deseo que compre doscientos Spencer de reserva con su parque correspondiente y se me remitan directamente para armar una fuerza que sirva de custodia al Gobierno (en armas). Una tienda de campa\u00f1a capaz para contener treinta personas: seis carpetas para los miembros que componen el Consejo del Gabinete: una Constituci\u00f3n de los Estados Unidos con todos los reglamentos de los diferentes cuerpos colegisladores y los comentarios todos que se hayan escrito sobre aquella\u2026\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>En Diciembre 18 de 1869,El Comit\u00e9 Revolucionario de Camag\u00fcey, presidido por Ignacio Agramonte y Loynaz; le formulan al gobierno de los Estados Unidos de Am\u00e9rica:<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2026Cuba, por tanto, aspira \u00e1 extinguir en Am\u00e9rica la dominaci\u00f3n espa\u00f1ola: aspira a romper para siempre las cadenas que durante cuatro siglos la han oprimido, y cuando hayan lanzado de su seno \u00e1 los d\u00e9spotas, dos senderos se le presentar\u00e1n: el de la independencia y el de la anexi\u00f3n a la Uni\u00f3n Americana. El sufragio de la mayor\u00eda designar\u00e1 el que deba seguirse, y seguramente no vacilar\u00e1n nuestros\u00a0 hermanos, teniendo en cuenta los inconvenientes del primero\u2026La naci\u00f3n americana podr\u00e1 agregar a tantos laureles conquistados, el de haber cooperado a la libertad de una fracci\u00f3n de la humanidad que aspira a ella y por ella derrama su sangre; y para Cuba el sentimiento de gratitud no se borrar\u00e1, porque en sus p\u00e1ginas m\u00e1s brillantes quedar\u00e1 estampados los servicios de sus hermanos de Am\u00e9rica\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPatria y libertad\u201d.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Sentences that join Cuba and United States Of America:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In 1820, Thomas Jefferson (third president of the United States of America) proclaimed: \u00ab\u2026Cuba is the most interesting addition that could be done to our system of States (Union) \u00bb, and suggested to the Secretary of War, John C. Milan\u00e9s ( Politic Governor ); and Aldermen: Ram\u00f3n C\u00e9spedes, Ignacio Casas and Jos\u00e9 Mas, they write to the State Secretary of the United States of America:<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab For that, when we remembered that there is in America a big and generous nation, to the one associate us very important commerce relations and great sympathies for its wise republican institutions, that have to be useful for us as standards to form ours, we have not doubted a single moment to address our self to it by means of its Secretary Of State so that it render their helps to us and it helps us with its influence to conquer our freedom, that it will not be doubtful or strange that after having gotten constituted at independent nation, we form more late or earlier an integrant part of so powerful States, because the peoples of America are call it to conform one nation and become the admiration and wonder of the whole world..\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>In February 18 of 1869, Carlos Manuel of C\u00e9spedes writes to the General Ulises S. Grant:<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u2026 because it is beginning generally admitted that the E.U. have to exercise a highly civilizing action on the other republics of the New World \u00bb<\/p>\n<p>In March 1 of 1869, General Carlos M. C\u00e9spedes (Commander In Chief of the republican forces of Cuba), address himself to the President of the United States of America:<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u2026Because the United States is the civilized nation more closely to Cuba, whose institutions find a nice echo in the heart of all the Cubans. The commercial and financiers interests of both peoples, being almost y identical and reciprocal in their nature, Cuba ardently appeals to her unquestionable right to be acknowledged\u2026 \u00bb<\/p>\n<p>In April 6 of 1869, the Assembly of Representatives of the Center, integrated by: Salvador Cisneros y Betancourt; Miguel de Betancourt; Francisco S\u00e1nchez Betancourt; Ignacio Agramonte y Loynaz y Antonio Zambrana, communicate to the President Grant:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCuba desires after getting its freedom, taking part between the States of the great Republic; so we dare to insure it interpreting the general feeling. You can be being sure that if the E.U. do not speed up themselves to provide us its valuable helps, a long war held with an enemy than knowing its impotence arrases and destroy the fields that no longer will go back to have, it has to cover our beautiful country with ruins. To the great Republic, like defender of freedom, as a nation we will throw ourselves to whose arms once the war was finished, and like protectors of the destinies of America, it repays strictly speaking, giving with its influence an immediate closing to this terrible dispute\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u2026But Cuba will get desolate, our children and women murdered for the infamous government that we combated, and when according to the very manifest desire of our people, the solitary star that today serves us as flag, be to position oneself between the ones that shine in the flag of the E.U, it would be a pale and worthless star \u201d<\/p>\n<p>In June 8 of 1869, Carlos M. de C\u00e9spedes orders the citizen Francisco J. Cisneros:<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u2026 I wish that you buy two hundred spare Spencer riffles with\u00a0 its corresponding park and remit it to me directly to create a force that serves as custody to Government (in arms).
