Son en general poco asimilables por los vegetales, una concentraci\u00f3n superior a 0,5% ya les resulta perjudicial, aunque existe un tipo de plantas denominadas hal\u00f3filas o barrileras que no pueden germinar si el suelo no contiene adecuadas cantidades de sal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Formaci\u00f3n de la materia org\u00e1nica del suelo<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>De la descomposici\u00f3n de restos&nbsp;animales&nbsp;y vegetales se genera la materia org\u00e1nica del suelo. El resultado final tras el proceso continuo de transformaci\u00f3n qu\u00edmica o bioqu\u00edmica de los residuos y sustancias vegetales y&nbsp;animales, es la formaci\u00f3n del mantillo o humus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Contiene sustancias diversas (humina, \u00e1cido h\u00famico, etc.) y proporciona al suelo los elementos nitrogenados indispensables para su fertilidad. El humus puede considerarse la base de la fertilidad del suelo, ejerce una influencia favorable sobre su estructura, y act\u00faa como regulador de la nutrici\u00f3n, reteniendo y haciendo asimilable el f\u00f3sforo y la potasa, y favoreciendo la actividad biol\u00f3gica del suelo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><img title=\" \"decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/natureduca.com\/images_cienc\/cienc_humus.jpg\" alt=\" \"><br>El humus es el resultado de la descomposici\u00f3n de restos animales y vegetales<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Las primeras materias en descomponerse e incorporarse al sustrato del suelo son las de origen animal, mientras que las de origen vegetal pueden necesitar hasta diez a\u00f1os, aunque ciertos vegetales en suelos neutros, como las hojas de haya, pueden cumplir el proceso en menos de un a\u00f1o.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Durante el proceso de humificaci\u00f3n, que requiere ventilaci\u00f3n, calor y humedad, se originan unas sustancias org\u00e1nicas denominadas \u00e1cidos h\u00famicos y f\u00falvicos; m\u00e1s de un 5% es considerado suelo rico en humus.
