La temperatura es m\u00e1s c\u00e1lida en las altitudes estratosf\u00e9ricas porque contienen cantidades peque\u00f1as de gases que absorben la radiaci\u00f3n solar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img title=\" \"decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/natureduca.com\/images_cienc\/cienc_atmosfera.jpg\" alt=\" \"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Dentro de la estratosfera, entre 15 y 35 km., a la capa que contiene esos gases se le denomina ozonoesfera. El ozono en la estratosfera absorbe muchos rayos ultravioleta (UV). Las emisiones UV no se encuentran en los rangos de luz visible y no podemos verlos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Las peque\u00f1as cantidades de rayos UV que logran alcanzar la superficie de La Tierra son los responsables de las quemaduras solares; la estratosfera act\u00faa como filtro para protegernos de estos peligrosos rayos. Existe una honda preocupaci\u00f3n acerca de los agujeros de ozono, o regiones en la estratosfera, donde cantidades de radiaci\u00f3n UV pueden terminar alcanzando la superficie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La capa de ozono es origen de debates por las constantes p\u00e9rdidas del gas que contiene, detectados en la atm\u00f3sfera, principalmente en el Ant\u00e1rtico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Estratopausa<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>La capa que separa la estratosfera de la siguiente capa, la mesosfera, es la estratopausa, y se encuentra a unos 50 km. sobre la superficie de La Tierra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mesosfera<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>La mesosfera se encuentra entre 50 y 100 km. Aqu\u00ed la temperatura desciende con la altura, las m\u00e1s bajas alcanzan los -90\u00ba C. Conforme se alcanza la termosfera el proceso se invierte, la temperatura aumenta progresivamente hasta alcanzar 2.000 grados C a varios miles de kil\u00f3metros. La mesosfera contiene rastros de peque\u00f1as cantidades de nitr\u00f3geno y ox\u00edgeno, insuficientes para absorber calor del Sol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mesopausa<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>La capa que separa la mesosfera de la siguiente capa, la troposfera, se llama mesopausa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Troposfera<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>La troposfera comienza aproximadamente entre los 80 y 100 km.; contiene \u00ednfimas cantidades de ox\u00edgeno y nitr\u00f3geno, pero estos absorben radiaci\u00f3n solar entrante. La temperatura en esta capa, como ya se dijo, puede alcanzar los 2000\u00ba C. M\u00e1s all\u00e1 de la termosfera se encuentra la exosfera, cuya temperatura se mantiene constante.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Otras definiciones de capas atendiendo a criterios de altitud o contenido<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Homosfera<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A toda la capa existente hasta los 90 km. de altura se le denomina homosfera, debido a que la composici\u00f3n del aire en toda esa zona es pr\u00e1cticamente constante.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Heterosfera<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A toda la capa por encima de la homosfera se le denomina heterosfera, ya que en ella se producen reacciones qu\u00edmicas muy r\u00e1pidas que alteran la composici\u00f3n del aire atmosf\u00e9rico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ozonoesfera, Ionosfera<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>As\u00ed como la ozonoesfera es considerada como una capa dentro de la estratosfera, en base a su respuesta caracter\u00edstica a los elementos que inciden en ella, es igualmente considerada la ionosfera. Algunos cient\u00edficos no distinguen la Ionosfera, y llaman Termosfera a toda la capa existente entre 80 y 400 km.; otros llaman ionosfera s\u00f3lo a la capa de 100 a 300 km.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La Ionosfera es una capa activa el\u00e9ctricamente, en ella es absorbida la mayor parte de la radiaci\u00f3n de longitudes cortas del Sol. Como esta radiaci\u00f3n pasa por la ionosfera, act\u00faa rec\u00edprocamente con las mol\u00e9culas del nitr\u00f3geno y \u00e1tomos de ox\u00edgeno. Estas part\u00edculas absorben la radiaci\u00f3n, pero en el proceso pierden un electr\u00f3n (una part\u00edcula negativa); este electr\u00f3n libre se transforma en un Ion (part\u00edcula con carga el\u00e9ctrica) y los \u00e1tomos cargados positivamente (con ausencia de electrones) tratan de cobrar a su vez los iones. Este proceso s\u00f3lo se realiza cuando hay radiaci\u00f3n solar; por la noche no existe radiaci\u00f3n entrante y algunas capas ionosf\u00e9ricas desaparecen.
